About

A life in several chapters

I spent my twenties racing offshore powerboats at world championship level, earning two World Champion titles and Italy's Gold Medal for Athletic Merit, awarded by the President of the Italian Republic. The discipline — long-distance offshore endurance racing — demands equal parts precision, nerve, and respect for the sea. I retired from competitive racing in 2009.

After racing, I turned to building. I founded and run Cannone Corporation, an Italian company operating at the intersection of vehicle fleet management, IT services, and technology refurbishment — turning discarded hardware into working tools. The company is part of a small group of businesses I have built and continue to manage from our base in Puglia, Southern Italy.

In parallel, I write. My first published book, Cuore Italiano, is a collection of 84 love poems tracing the cycle of a relationship through the landscapes of Italy. A horror novel is currently in progress. I speak Italian natively and Spanish fluently, and I continue to study English — a work in progress, like most things worth doing.

Building from Puglia

Cannone Corporation operates across vehicle fleet management, IT services, and technology refurbishment. We manage vehicle logistics for institutional clients and give second life to discarded computing hardware — extending the lifecycle of technology that would otherwise become waste.

The company is part of a small group of Italian businesses I have built and continue to manage from our base in Puglia. Our work sits at the intersection of logistics and sustainability — practical problems, practical solutions.

Sport

Offshore powerboat racing

Offshore endurance powerboat racing is a discipline that tests man and machine over long distances of open sea. It is the same sport that took the life of Stefano Casiraghi — husband of Princess Caroline of Monaco — in 1989. I competed professionally at world championship level and retired in 2009.

Cuore Italiano

A collection of 84 love poems

Eighty-four poems that trace the arc of a relationship — from the first encounter to the depths of separation — set against the landscapes of Italy. Each section follows the natural rhythm of love: discovery, passion, doubt, loss, and the quiet that comes after.

Written in Italian. Published under the author's name Aldo Cannone. An English translation is in progress.

Honours

Recognition

Some things in life are given, not sought. These honours represent moments where institutions I respect placed their trust in me.

Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem

The Holy See — Vatican · May 2019

Solemn investiture ceremony at the Cathedral of Bari. The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, established in the 11th century, is the only military order of chivalry under the direct patronage of the Holy See. Its members are called to support the Christian presence in the Holy Land through faith, charity, and service.

Gold Medal for Athletic Merit

Presidency of the Italian Republic

Awarded by the President of Italy in recognition of world championship titles achieved in offshore powerboat racing — the highest sporting honour conferred by the Italian Republic to its athletes.
